2011 Analysis
Packers beat Saints in a shootout
Week 1
The Packers opened the 2011 NFL season with a 42-34 victory over the New Orleans Saints.
Aaron Rodgers had a flawless performance passing for 312 yards with 3 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
He ended up with a sparkling 132.1 quarterback rating. The running game was led by James Starks with 57 yards on 12 carries.
Overall the running game racked up 103 yards on 27 carries.
The defense failed to stop the Saints all night as they gave up 477 yards.
The last play of the game was a stuff by the defense at the goal line so they stopped the Saints when they really needed it.
Overall a solid performance by the Pack.
Another Solid Performance in Carolina
Week 2
The Packers traveled to Charlotte and won 30-23 for the first road victory of the year.
The defense shut down the Panthers running game limiting Deangelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart to only 18 yards on 11 carries. Overall the Panthers only averaged 3.4 yards per carry. The 4 turnovers forced were also a welcome sight to Packers fans.
Rookie Cam Newton threw for a ton of yards but only managed 1 touchdown along with 3 interceptions.
Overall it was a solid performance by the Packers.
Next week is a pivotal road division game against the Bears.
Getting road divisional wins always feels a little better than a regular victory.
Packers play physical game in defeating Bears 27-17
Week 3
The Packers defense had their best performance of the season hitting Jay Cutler numerous times and shutting down the running game.
The Bears only managed 13 yards on 12 carries for a pathetic 1.1 yards per carry average. Jay Cutler was under pressure all afternoon which led to 2 interceptions thrown. The Bears did not even gain 300 yards of total offense and had 10 penalties as well.
Jermichael Finley had a career day with 3 touchdown catches. Aaron Rodgers had another outstanding performance passing for 297 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Ryan Grant played an excellent game running the ball for 92 yards on 17 carries.
Next week the Broncos come to Lambeau Field.
Offensive explosion destroys Broncos
Week 4
The Denver Broncos had no chance against the Pack as Green Bay put on an offensive masterpiece in a 49-23 victory.
Aaron Rodgers had a career day with 6 total touchdowns - 4 passing and 2 running. He finished with over 400 yards passing and a quarterback rating of 134.5. The Pack finished with over 500 yards total offense.
Next week Green Bay travels to Atlanta to face the Falcons in a primetime game.
Given the Falcons defensive problems the Packers should be able to cruise to a solid victory.
